Shanghai cargo volumes rose 17.55 percent year- on-year to 35.53 million tonnes in April, reported Euclid Infotech.

The container throughput increased 20.9 percent year-on-year to 2.37 million TEUs.

In 2009, Shanghai cargo volumes dipped 1.1 percent year-on-year to 365 million tonnes and container throughput fell 10.7 percent from the previous year to 25 million TEUs.
