The Taiwan government plans to invest US$8.6 billion to upgrade its busiest international airport and add a third runway and terminal, after years of neglect, Transportation and Communications Deputy Minister Yeh Kuang-shih said.
"These new plans are very important for our international competitiveness," Yeh told Dow Jones Newswires. "Taiwan is an island, so it is crucial we use the airport to drive Taiwan's economy."
