Four major ports are going to operate 24 hours a day starting at the end of the month, Bisnis Indonesia reported.

"The Ministry of Transportation is ready to fully operate ports 24 hours a day. However, we still need to coordinate things with the Directorate General of Custom and Excise," said Minister of Transportation Freddy Numberi.

"24-hour services have to be always excellent. Therefore, we keep discussing things with the Directorate General of Custom and Excise. I think this will be completed at the end of the 100-day program."

The Ministry of Transportation has determined four ports and one airport to fully operate 24 hours a day to bolster export-import performance, namely Tanjung Priok (Jakarta), Makassar, Belawan (Medan), and Tanjung Perak (Surabaya) ports, and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta) airport.
